At the age of 16, he began working menial jobs and that allowed him to meet a wide variety of people, some of whom he later based his characters on, such as Sam in <i>The Janitor<\/i> (1985).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/August_Wilson\"><b>August Wilson<\/b> (April 27, 1945 \u2013 October 2, 2005)<\/a> was an American playwright whose work included a series of ten plays, <i>The Pittsburgh Cycle<\/i>, for which he received two <a title=\"Pulitzer Prize for Drama\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pulitzer_Prize_for_Drama\">Pulitzer Prizes for Drama<\/a>.
